Item Does Female on Board Affect M&A Participating Firms’ Performance? Empirical Evidence from India Using Dynamic Panel Data Analysis(The Indian Economic Journal, 2024) Kumar, SarikaThe aim of this research is to examine the impact of gender diversity and female leadership position on the firm performance of Indian listed firms participating in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities. Available research has focused on a small sample of firms and considered ‘gender diversity’ as the only variable. Bearing this in mind, this study focusses on the leadership positions females hold on corporate board along with gender diversity affecting the firm performance measures for the sample of M&A participating firms, as M&As lead to major restructuring of the board. The ‘gender diversity’ is measured with the number of females present on corporate board as directors, ‘leadership position’ is measured with females holding the position either as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Chairperson on the board. The study employs panel data set for Indian non-financial National Stock Exchange listed M&A participating firms for the period 2013–2020. Using a system of GMM dynamic panel estimates, the study analyses the relationship between gender diversity and females’ varied leadership position on the firm performance measures, that is, return on asset, Tobin’s q. The findings reveal that there is a positive association between gender diversity and firm performance measures. Females holding the top leadership positions as either CEO or Chairperson on the board positively impact the firm performance measures. This study adds to the existing literature on gender diversity at the board level and M&A literature in the Indian context.Item Gender Diversity, Firm Performance, and ESG: Evidence from Indian M&A Participating Firms(International Journal of Business and Economics, 2023) Kumar, SarikaCorporate entities are expected to play a significant part in the Sustainable Development Goals by implementing sustainable practices, which are setting a new global target on sustainability. One strategy for encouraging corporations to adopt sustainable practices focuses on the composition of the board. However, the connections between the composition of boards and business sustainability practice are not scientifically investigated. The results were obtained by employing the panel dataset for Indian non-financial NSE (National Stock Exchange) listed Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A hereafter) participating firms for 2013-2022. The study reveals a positive association between board gender diversity (number of females on board) and ESG. Female leadership position positively and significantly impacts the firm performance measures: return on assets (ROA) and Tobin’s Q. Presence of females on board positively affects the firm's sustainability and can be beneficial for a firm’s necessary decision-making process. The results obtained from this study will help academicians overcome the dearth of study in the field of sustainability performance and M&As and further incorporate a broader length of ESG-related information that can be applied in the context of corporate governance. This study attempted to go beyond the available literature on gender diversity and firm performance to extend the researcher’s knowledge and highlight the probable future scope of research related to M&A and corporate governance area. This is the first study that highlights the gender diversity and sustainability relation in the context of India for the M&A participating firms.Item Online Abuse : A Systematic Literature Review and Future Agenda(International Journal of Conflict Management, 2024-01-17) Kumar, SarikaPurpose The study aims to examine the conceptualization of online abuse (OA) and identifies theories, countries of research, top-cited articles, methodologies, antecedents, mediators, outcomes and moderators of OA and future research opportunities. Two research questions are addressed. How have the past studies on OA progressed regarding theories, context, characteristics and methodology? What future research opportunities can be done in this area? Design/methodology/approach This study systematically reviews, synthesizes and integrates OA literature using the well-recommended preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) rules. The literature on OA was synthesized based on the Theory–Context–Characteristics–Methodologies (TCCM) framework given by Paul and Rosado-Serrano. Findings Through an examination of TCCM used in OA research, the review presents an all-inclusive and up-to-date overview of the research in this arena and sets a future research agenda to spur scholarly research. This systematic literature review has analyzed top-quality sample papers, published in the past decade. As a result, it contributes to a better understanding of this relationship by analyzing the different types of use and the value added to the shopping experience. Originality/value This study provides groundwork for researchers and promotes a deeper understanding of OA.Item Online abuse: a systematic literature review and future research agenda(International Journal of Conflict Management, 2024-10-29) Kumar, SarikaPurpose The study aims to examine the conceptualization of online abuse (OA) and identifies theories, countries of research, top-cited articles, methodologies, antecedents, mediators, outcomes and moderators of OA and future research opportunities.
